Marchesa Fall 2012

Although I haven't written anything about New York Fashion Week, I felt compelled to showcase true elegance to my fellow readers. Marchesa is a fan favorite, Hollywood favorite and I for one LOVE the label. And their presentation is perfectly timed with the Academy Awards just around the corner. The presentation was held at the Plaza Hotel with many starlets and stylists in front row ready to pick Oscar worthy gowns.

Designers Georgina Chapman and Keren Craig have said that they drew inspiration from an 1879 portrait painting by William Adolphe Bourgueraus; A Soul Brought to Heaven. For those of us who aren't art fanatics, it  is difficult to imagine this painting but by looking at the garments produced by the pair, it must have been a thing of beauty.

Elaborate designs, champagne colored gowns with floating feathers are some of the few things I love about Marchesa. Designs so beautiful it would be a shame not to see them again. Looking forward to Oscar night to see the beauties on the red carpet.

WHITNEY HOUSTON STYLE TRIBUTE

Whitney Houston was a woman of great talent. Talent which transcended many generations. It is very unfortunate that we have lost her as she had a great impact on the music and fashion industries. Whitney was a risk taker when it came to fashion. As a diva, her hair was ever changing. She had many attributes but her smile, that big white vibrant smile was her trademark. I have selected a few pictures of her style through the years and hope that it will help many remember Whitney as the amazing artist and stylista she was.

Grammy's Best and Worst Dressed

Sunday night, many of the music industry's big names came together to celebrate each other and pay tribute to the late Whitney Houston. The Grammy Awards is the most important award ceremony for the who's who of music. The red carpet for this event is as talked about as the Academy Awards red carpet but, not for the same reason.

After many years of watching the Grammy Awards' red carpet, I came to the conclusion that it is an event for people who believe that any press is good press. Whether they look ridiculous or not, their sole focus is to be talked about for as long as possible after the event. Those people figured that the best way to achieve that is by dressing in the most absurd garments in order to end up on worst dressed lists all over the Internet. Unfortunately, it works like a charm. I slightly feel ashamed that it took me this long to realize their little scheme.

Fortunately for all fashion lovers, some celebrities took the time to make sure that they looked gorgeous and well put together. Scroll down for my picks for Best and Worst dressed of the event and stay tuned for the next post as I will be paying tribute to the Whitney Houston

DYNEMITE

I have always been a fan of Steve Madden shoes but its latest DYNEMITE collection is breathtaking. The sky high platforms are great for spicing up any outfit because they demand attention. They are comfortable, sexy and highly stylish. Thankfully they are incredibly AFFORDABLE,  therefore can be purchased by me in every color available :)

REVENGE

It has only been a week since I discovered and fell in LOVE with ABC's new hit drama Revenge. It is absolutely breathtaking. Since I do not have a TV yet because of my recent move, I have been watching it online over and  over because I just can't get enough of this show. It is the ultimate guilty pleasure for thrill seekers. The show centers a young woman by the name of Emily Thorn who comes back to Hampton's in order to exact revenge on every single person who helped destroy her and her father's lives. Her father was falsely accused of providing money for a terrorist attack and was framed by the Graysons (richest, most powerful people in town).
