Bergdorf's 111th Birthday

The legendary retailer held their 111th anniversary celebration at the New York Plaza Hotel. All of fashion's elites were present. Below are my favourite picks for the night. I was mostly impressed by Coco Rocha's Zac Posen gown. She looked absolutely breathtaking. Coco and Zac are a match made in heaven!

Flawsome Ball

I'm not too sure where I stand when it comes to Tyra Banks' gown at her first annual Flawsome Ball. The fabric and optical illusion motif were a little too much for the eye-catching mermaid bottom. Her hair could have also used a little touch up.

What do you think, hit or miss?

She never seems to learn...

I have never been a fan of leather, especially not leather leggings and pants. Some people (Victoria B.) manage to pull it off but others make it look even more awful than it should. Kim Kardashian has been a leather offender before and it seems she cannot learn her lesson. Images speak for themselves. I hope, for heaven's sake that she retires leather for good as it does not flatter her one bit.

J'adore!

I have fallen in love with Solange Knowles' new music video for her single Losing You. The song on its own is amazing. By adding a group of friends and an artsy sense of style, she songstress turned fashionista was able to create a master piece.

Everything from the decor to the elegantly dressed African men captures anyone who watches this video. The chemistry between her friends and her mixed with the simple village in South Africa are simply perfect.

Miss Goodwin

Ginnifer Goodwin's red carpet choices never cease to amaze me. She looked breathtaking in a Monique Lhuillier gown. The Louboutins and her Ferragamo clutch were the perfect accents to her already gorgeous look. She finished it off with Rona Pfeiffer jewels and a sleek hair do.

Emmy's top 3 picks

A little late but, here are my top 3 pics.

Not So Little Jenner

Kendall Jenner looks absolutely STUNNING on the cover of Genlux Magazine's Fall 2012 issue. Having never heard of this magazine before, I was only intrigued by their website because I knew the young Jenner was on the cover. She looks like a breath of fresh air in each photo. Kendall definitely has a very bright future as a model, couldn't say the same about her sister Kylie.
Enjoy!

Favorite Euro photos

1 week later and still jet lagged.

A week after my Euro trip and I still haven't gotten my sleep pattern back :( I sleep insanely late and keep waking up at six in the morning, everyday. Its probably because I miss my sister Lisette, we had the most amazing time together. So much shopping, so much to see and do. I even lost a few kilos walking around, especially in Barcelona.

Lively

A very stylish week for Gossip Girl's Blake Lively who is busy promoting her new movie. I have always been a fan of her personal and on screen style. My favorite look is the Zuhair Murad gown. She looks effortlessly elegant.

Prom/Grad Fashion

Thought I would share some photos of my two fave grads of 2012. My little sister Ornella looking GORGEOUS at her prom and my cousin Jonathan who looked AMAZING in a pastel suit at graduation and once again looked dapper at his prom. So proud of my little fashionistas!

Bisous de Paris

I apologize to all my readers for not blogging for a month. My life has been a very hectic roller coaster throughout the month of July. I moved (well first we had to find a place...which was EXTREMELY hectic). After the moving came decorating and setting up the new place with pretty furniture and other cure things to make it homy. When all of that finished, I kind of became extremely lazy..truly enjoying a lazy summer. I am extremely excited about my upcoming three week vacation to Europe with my cousin. I have been planning for this trip for almost a year and it is finally near..only two more weeks. I will of course have plenty of writing material when I'm away and will try to update you guys as often as I can and of course have a BIG recap when I get back.

Que des bisous

Best and Worst; Met Ball 2012

BEST DRESSED

Jessica Alba looked absolutely radiant, elegant, gorgeous...and the list goes on. The actress wore this Michael Kors gown to perfection. Her retro waves and bold lipstick completed the look. She never fails to impress on the red carpet!

Karolina Kurkova sizzled in this Gold Rachel Zoe gown fit for the fashion queen. She looked like a golden statue. Her look was completed with a matching turban and simple accessories. Definitely one of my favorites.

Fashion Faux Pas

It may seem like I took a dislike to Beyonce today but its really not the case. I love Bey, when she's in her element. She's one of the greatest artists out there and with more training and time, she could become a phenomenal actress like her fellow Dream Girls costar Jennifer Hudson. I'm disliking the amounts of people who are too busy kissing her behind because of her fame and glory and do not acknowledge the truth about what she does/wear. My prime target is every blogger/magazine/tv commentator out there who placed our highness on their Best Dressed list for last night's Met Gala. I get that the gown was supposed to make a statement but what it conveyed was that Beyonce tried a bit too hard. The glowing start always steals the show wherever she goes, she didn't have to go all out in this sheer number by Givenchy. Her body was too exposed for my liking and there was just too much going on with the dress. I did like that she chose to keep her hair and makeup simple because had it been dramatic...only God knows. She should have taken a clue or two from her stylish sister Solange  and kept it simple. Less is ALWAYS more...

Solange should give Beyonce a tip or two..she was my Best Dressed pick for the night.

Queen Bey's "Journalism Award"

A while ago I read Beyonce's "Eat Play Love" article. I was surprised at how open the usually private triple threat was about her upbringing and her life in general. She spoke about the woman who inspired her to be a strong and focused black woman; her mother. I can attest to that because i grew up watching my mom go about her daily duties while raising eight kids. She spoke about Destiny's Child's struggles to make it in the music industries and how hard she has worked to maintain her status in the business.

The long descriptive article seemed more like a journal entry to me than anything else, which explains my surprise when I found out that Beyonce was being awarded a journalism award by the New York Association of Black Journalists. I'm sure that almost every journalist, blogger...etc's jaws dropped when they first heard the news. I do not think Beyonce is skilled enough to receive an award for her journal entry in Essence magazine. I found a very interesting and truthful article by Dr. Boyce Watkins i thought I should share with all my readers. Dr. Watkins excellently criticized the NYABJ for they're ill fated choice.

Similarities

Charlize Theron in Dior, Oscars 2010

I wasn't a huge fan of this design when it was sported by the gorgeous Charlize Theron at the Oscars. In fact, it had found its way on numerous Worst Dressed lists. It comes as a surprise to me that the great Zac Pozen designed a gown that is almost an exact replica of Charlize's Dior gown. The colors are similar, the rushing at the back and the two blonde beauties showcasing the frocks.

Amber Heard in Zac Pozen, Met Gala 2012

The one who took my breath away...

To kick off my return to blogging, I thought I would start off with the ever so graceful and gorgeous actress Carey Mulligan at the Costume Institute Gala tonight.
Carey has become a red carpet veteran. She looks absolutely flawless in this gold prada number. Her soft but dramatic makeup and her oh so perfect hair do complete her flawless look.

Marchesa Fall 2012

Although I haven't written anything about New York Fashion Week, I felt compelled to showcase true elegance to my fellow readers. Marchesa is a fan favorite, Hollywood favorite and I for one LOVE the label. And their presentation is perfectly timed with the Academy Awards just around the corner. The presentation was held at the Plaza Hotel with many starlets and stylists in front row ready to pick Oscar worthy gowns.

Designers Georgina Chapman and Keren Craig have said that they drew inspiration from an 1879 portrait painting by William Adolphe Bourgueraus; A Soul Brought to Heaven. For those of us who aren't art fanatics, it  is difficult to imagine this painting but by looking at the garments produced by the pair, it must have been a thing of beauty.

Elaborate designs, champagne colored gowns with floating feathers are some of the few things I love about Marchesa. Designs so beautiful it would be a shame not to see them again. Looking forward to Oscar night to see the beauties on the red carpet.

WHITNEY HOUSTON STYLE TRIBUTE

Whitney Houston was a woman of great talent. Talent which transcended many generations. It is very unfortunate that we have lost her as she had a great impact on the music and fashion industries. Whitney was a risk taker when it came to fashion. As a diva, her hair was ever changing. She had many attributes but her smile, that big white vibrant smile was her trademark. I have selected a few pictures of her style through the years and hope that it will help many remember Whitney as the amazing artist and stylista she was.

Grammy's Best and Worst Dressed

Sunday night, many of the music industry's big names came together to celebrate each other and pay tribute to the late Whitney Houston. The Grammy Awards is the most important award ceremony for the who's who of music. The red carpet for this event is as talked about as the Academy Awards red carpet but, not for the same reason.

After many years of watching the Grammy Awards' red carpet, I came to the conclusion that it is an event for people who believe that any press is good press. Whether they look ridiculous or not, their sole focus is to be talked about for as long as possible after the event. Those people figured that the best way to achieve that is by dressing in the most absurd garments in order to end up on worst dressed lists all over the Internet. Unfortunately, it works like a charm. I slightly feel ashamed that it took me this long to realize their little scheme.

Fortunately for all fashion lovers, some celebrities took the time to make sure that they looked gorgeous and well put together. Scroll down for my picks for Best and Worst dressed of the event and stay tuned for the next post as I will be paying tribute to the Whitney Houston

DYNEMITE

I have always been a fan of Steve Madden shoes but its latest DYNEMITE collection is breathtaking. The sky high platforms are great for spicing up any outfit because they demand attention. They are comfortable, sexy and highly stylish. Thankfully they are incredibly AFFORDABLE,  therefore can be purchased by me in every color available :)

REVENGE

It has only been a week since I discovered and fell in LOVE with ABC's new hit drama Revenge. It is absolutely breathtaking. Since I do not have a TV yet because of my recent move, I have been watching it online over and  over because I just can't get enough of this show. It is the ultimate guilty pleasure for thrill seekers. The show centers a young woman by the name of Emily Thorn who comes back to Hampton's in order to exact revenge on every single person who helped destroy her and her father's lives. Her father was falsely accused of providing money for a terrorist attack and was framed by the Graysons (richest, most powerful people in town).

Screen Actors Guild Awards (SAG)

A listers came together once again to put together a fabulous Red Carpet event tonight at the SAG awards. From blues to greens, the carpet sparkled with fabulous summer hues. Many stars opted for black, its a safe color and when the design is right, it ALWAYS looks stunning. Below are my fashion fairytales and horros from tonight's event.

No one could have looked more STUNNING than the beautiful Viola Davis. The Best Actress nominee opted for a white Marchesa  gown with gold accents. Jimmy Choo  heels are hiding under her gown. I love that she reinvents herself every time on the red carpet. She styled her hair in a wavy twenties style and paired it with minimal but elegant jewels. I cannot wait to see how she will outdo this look at the Academy Awards

Glee Club members Naya Rivera, Jayma Mays, Diana Agron, Amber Riley, Lea Michele and Heather Morris stunned while walking down the Red Carpet at the SAG Awards. Rivera opted for a sexy low-cut sparkly number by Naeem Khan. She completed her look with subtle jewels. Miss Pillsbury looked nothing like a timid guidance counselor in a black shimmery Reem Acra design while Diana opted for a softer hue. The actress donned a  Carolina

2012 People's Choice Awards

Demi Lovato and Miley Cyrus were very easy picks for me during this year's PCAs. Both ladies surprised onlookers the moment they set foot on that carpet. My jaw dropped as soon as I saw Demi in an orange-sorbet figure hugging Marchesa gown. Her hair do did the trick as it showed off her toned shoulders and her beautifully executed dramatic makeup. She polished the look with a box gold clutch and gold peep toe sandals.
Miley was another shocker for me as she tends to dress a bit "too old" at major events. She looked flirty and  sexy in a David Koma mini paired with Jimmy Choo stiletto pumps. Miley carried a silver Marchesa clutch and paired the look with gorgeous Neil Lane stud earrings.
Both Ashley&Kristen have the bodies to pull off their leather-lace numbers but, only Kristen makes it work. Ashley's custom made DKNY

National Board of Review Awards Gala in New York

Viola Davis STUNNED in a slim cut coral Lauren by Ralph Lauren design. The frock was perfectly paired with House of Lavande jewels and Jimmy Choo sandals.
